KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Chad Hardaway, JD, MBA

Deputy Director, University of South Carolina Office of Economic Engagement

Chad Hardaway is a Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) College of Engineering and Computing, where he teaches emerging engineering leaders the principles of business law, corporate law, and intellectual property management and strategy. He is one of the key faculty members in the Master's degree program in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurial Engineering at the UofSC. In addition, Chad is a Professor in the newly created Cyber Security and Operations program at UofSC and lectures on Cyber Law and Ethics.

Chad also serves as Deputy Director of the UofSC Office of Economic Engagement and Director of Technology Commercialization. Chad seeks to align UofSC assets with outside corporate and government partners, oversees a portfolio of university technologies, and is responsible for moving those technologies out of the laboratory and into the marketplace. He also works with University Technology Startups and South Carolina Startups to form partnerships, find capital, explore research opportunities, develop new markets, and ultimately move products into the hands of consumers.

Prior to joining the UofSC in 2005, Chad was a Process Engineer with Eastman Chemical Company. These past positions and experiences provide a broad understanding of the early stage technology development cycle and how it can connect with existing corporate market and technology development. Chad has a BS in Chemical Engineering, MBA, and a Juris Doctor, all from the UofSC.

Dr. Harold Kerzner

Senior Executive Director, IIL

Harold Kerzner holds a Ph.D. and MS in Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from Utah State University. Dr. Kerzner is the Senior Executive Director of the International Institute for Learning and Professor Emeritus of Systems Management at Baldwin-Wallace College. He is also a well-known author and expert in project management and strategic planning.
