Human Work Machine: How our Brains Impact our Success David Mantica VP and General Manager, SoftEd US Learning Objectives: - Understand why humans have an innate tendency to react emotionally - Understand how our thinking can be distorted - Learn how to self-assess and self-manage to avoid thinking distortions - Learn how to better manage work relationships and work situations Description of Presentation: Yes, we are a work machine. We are knowledge workers and the primary instrument that drives the work we do is our brains. Now, how much do you know about how your brain works? In very pragmatic terms: How do you process information? What is your brain’s default settings? Why do we react emotionally even in logical work environments? Even when we can “think” about something what are the distortions that can impact that thinking? Knowing these things does two things; one, it enables you to self-assess and self-manage, you can protect yourself from these distortions and two, it enables you to better manage work relationships and manage work situations. The reality is, it is no longer about what you can do aka your technical skills, it about how well you can get things done, an in all cases that means how effectively you can work with others. Understanding the Human Work Machine is the critical foundation to working with others.

Interactive Digital Communication: Using Augmented Reality in Business Della Bryant M.A. This presentation will introduce some of the ways you can use augmented reality in formal and informal business settings. As digital media becomes more prevalent in our everyday lives, learning to communicate effectively on a variety of platforms is necessary. Augmented reality provides an opportunity to engage with your audience in a way they will remember. Whether your audience is a campaign for your company's clients or your coworkers, interactive communication is a great way to effectively communicate complicated messages in an easily digestible format. Discuss the reasons interactivity plays a crucial role in communication and how this changes depending on the scale of the audience. Defining “Extended Reality” which is the broad term for Virtual reality, Mixed Reality, and Augmented Reality. Introducing new methods of digital communication and how it can be integrated to create more interactive communication with your audience. Lens Studio, Spark AR, Adobe Aero, AR Business cards, and Oculus Quest are just a few of the more accessible forms of recent interactive mediums that feature augmented reality. Setting a formal tone on a traditionally informal Platform.
